According to leading cardiovascular experts and other medical experts, a heart attack occurs when one or more of the heart's arteries is or are blocked. This blockage can reduce or cut off the heart's blood supply, which can cause a blot clot to form, stopping blood flow in an artery.

One of the first of heart attack symptoms is what most describe as a pressure or pain in the chest cavity, or a squeezing (often described as a tight band constricting around the chest area).

Another of the most common heart attack symptoms to appear is a spreading pain, one that typically moves to the shoulders, neck or arms of the person having the experience.

Another symptom that is common to the list of Heart attack symptoms is that of a person having chest pain or discomfort, combined with fainting, sweating, a lightheaded feeling, nausea and shortness of breath-though not every single symptom will accompany the chest discomfort at one time, necessarily.

Anxiety, edginess, nervousness, and/or cold, clammy (sweaty) skin are also some heart attack symptoms.

A feeling of impending doom, another kind of anxiety, can be among the typical heart attack symptoms, as can an appearance of pale face and skin, and, of course, increased heart rate. But keep in mind that not all symptoms will be apparent or occur in a heart attack, so even if you feel one symptom as described above, get help IMMEDIATELY. Too many people will shrug off a single symptom when they in fact need help. Sometimes heartburn is not simple heartburn (or what they now call acid reflux).
