If you are a women it is expected that at some time in your life you will feel the discomfort of a yeast infection. Although they are not life threatening they can be very uncomfortable and annoying. If you think you have a yeast infection go see your doctor. If you have had one before you will “know” how to treat it again.
Symptoms that you have a yeast infection are noticeable to you because you will feel and intense itching and burning sensation in your vagina. The itching may not always be felt, can get severe at times, and may progress to make walking very painful. You will notice a discharge that is white/yellow that resemble cottage cheese, and the odor will smell like yeast.
An over the counter treatment is available at the drug store, but if you apply the treatment and the yeast infection symptoms show no signs of going away you should consult your doctor immediately for it could be something far more serious.
It should be noted that some people believe that eating yogurt will stop the yeast infections and that by drinking cranberry juice will ease symptoms. Many people believe that yeast infections are cause by not keeping yourself clean. Well it is important to wash yourself, the most common reasons a yeast infection happens are , antibiotics, clothing/dyes, diet, and sexually transmitted. Hey all you men out there…did you know that you too can get a yeast infection? Yes that is right, and you to will experience the discomfort listed above.
Other things that might cause yeast infections can be the soap you shower with, the soap you wash your underwear with, and even those expensive toilet papers that have dyes and scent to make you wash rooms look pretty.
More and more these days younger people are getting yeast infections, and this can be linked to not rinsing the soap off in the shower, and not changing their underwear often enough. Yeast can live in underwear.
