Teen health seems to be the one thing “modern parents” seem to fail to take into consideration. Body piercing and tattoos seem to the “in” thing and the effect that is it is having on the teen of this generation could be overwhelming when they become adults. The average teen has their ears pierced twice and at least two other piercing on other parts of their bodies. The latest craze is tattoos, and we are all aware of the danger of dirty needles.
The dangers to a teen health are numerous if you take into consideration the things they are doing to their young bodies. Body piercing has become a “must have” among the teen set. Prior to a minor getting piercing or tattoos they must provide parental consent. So your teenagers come”s to you and asks for your permission? You are a modern parent and don’t want to “run your child’s life” What parents fail to understand is that infections and dirty needles can cause serious issues. Being a “cool in touch” parent may be causes serious harm to your teenagers health. You should do your research before saying yes…or better yet say no.
Tattoos have become a status symbol for the teen of this generation, most have their lower backs tattooed with various designs. Some are actually very well done, well other seem to be done by a child. One only can imagine at what type of place the teen had the work done. Was the needle that pierced their young skin a thousand times clean or was it the same one uses and cleaned with some rubbing alcohol before it was used again? The concern comes in when the teen does not know the risks involved with getting a tattoo. Young skin is firmer then older skin, when a teenage girl gets a current cartoon tattooed on her chest at the age of fifteen, is she aware the time and age can serious change the shape of that design. Getting it removed is very painful not to mention expensive. The next concern is where they are getting the work done. A dirty needle can mean life of death.
