What is stress treatments and therapies

Stress. Small five letter word who’s meaning is unclear even among the medical profession. The treatments and therapies for stress are widely different among the worlds leading authorities and it is not know why one thing will work for one person and not work on another.

The literature of the last hundred years offers many different definitions of what stress is, whether used by psychologists, medics, management consultants or lay people. There seems to have been something approaching open warfare between competing definitions: Views have been passionately held and aggressively defended. Stress is made up of many things: It is a family of related experiences, pathways, responses and outcomes caused by a range of different events or circumstances. Different people experience different aspects and identify with different definitions.

So what are the most popular forms of treatments and therapies for someone that is under a lot of stress? Well some go shopping, however that leads to another kind of stress… And then there are those that take a little pill to make the world go away for a while or at least not seem so over whelming. Or then there are those that believe that they need to “talk it out” and well there are a lot of doctors that make a living “talking about other peoples problems” But is it not the our responsibility to talk to each other?

I wonder if we could learn to handle stress a little better with better copping skills. I think medication is a quick fix that can do damage to ones body over time, and talking to a stranger seems to help get things off your chest…but at the end of the day I think the best motto you could live by is …. DON”T sweat the small stuff”
